As of July 2017, the work permit fee structure was changed entirely for all permits except for Self-Employed permits which still carry a static fee of $575 regardless of earnings.

Fill out the short form below to calculate a BVI Work Permit fee based on an actual salary amount. To make things a little easier, we have gone ahead and included the $75 fee for the Plastic Work Permit card as well. We did not include the $50 (non-refundable) fee for submitting the application.

In the end, the number calculated below should match the amount you owe to the Accountant General, when you go to pick up your Work Permit at the Labour Department once it is approved.

Work Permit Sliding Scale

At the low end of the spectrum, 3% is charged for any Non-Belonger workers earning up to $25,000 per year. At the high end, there is a maximum fee of $10,000 per year for anyone who makes in excess of $165,000 per year. In between these amounts, the scales slide as the amount of earnings rise. Take a look at the chart for a more clear representation of the percentage scales.

As an example, if someone earns $40k, the first $25,000 in income will be charged at 3% which is equal to $750; the next $15,000 will be charged at 5% which is also equal to $750, The there will be an additional $75 for the actual Work Permit card bring the total amount owed to $1575.
