In order for an immigrant to work in the BVI, an employer must first advertise a job for 2 weeks. This process is to ensure that he or she has taken the necessary steps to find a qualified BVIslander or Belonger to fill the position, by publiclly listing the job position in one of the territory’s printed or online publications. If no suitable British Virgin Islander or "Belonger" applicants are available, an employer may seek a work permit for a migrant worker.
